Empathetic, Qualified, Experienced

About

I hold a Graduate Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy from the University of Limerick and I am currently completing an MA, also at the University of Limerick. Previous qualifications include a B.A. in English and Psychological Studies, an MSc in Psychological Studies and a Diploma in Counselling Studies alongside other additional training.

As a therapist I work in an integrative way, meaning that, rather than working primarily using one theoretical approach, I draw from various perspectives and schools of psychotherapy. I am particularly influenced by Existential psychotherapy theory and Attachment theory.

The symbol of the lighthouse holds personal relevance for me. I use the symbol of the lighthouse to represent hope and solace in times of darkness and hardship.

About

Welcome,

My name is Kate and I am a qualified and experienced Integrative Psychotherapist. I hold a Graduate Diploma and MA (Masters) in Integrative Psychotherapy from the University of Limerick. I also hold a BA in English and Psychological Studies, an MSc (Masters) in Psychological Studies, and a Diploma in Counselling Studies. Having studied both psychology and psychotherapy has provided me with a solid grounding and understanding of the benefits of both disciplines.

In addition to my academic study I have also completed a wide range of additional, evidence-based trainings to work therapeutically with children, adolescents, and families. These include The Circle of Security, Sensory Attachment Integration, Marte Meo, Trauma-Informed approaches, and the Non-Violent Resistance approach.

I would consider my specialism Attachment and have worked and trained extensively in this area.

Alongside my psychotherapy practice, I have worked for over eighteen years in the fields of Youth Work and Family Support. I believe this extensive experience of working in a supportive capacity with individuals and families from a wide range of backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs has informed my understanding of issues of social justice.

I always strive to be a warm, empathetic, and ethical therapist.
